Interested in becoming Catholic? Fill in the form and then download it to your computer and send it to Deacon Guy dcnguyberry gmail. Have you been attending Mass, but never taken the step to become Catholic? Were you Baptized Catholic as a child but never received the other Sacraments of Initiation Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation and would like to receive those Sacraments now?
Were you Baptized in another Christian faith and would like to find out more about the Catholic Church and receiving the Sacraments? Do you know friends or family who might be interested in learning about becoming a Catholic Christian? If any of these questions apply to you, RCIA is for you! We also welcome baptized Christian adults age 16 and over who are considering joining the Church and those Catholics who are not yet Confirmed to join us to prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Participants attend classes to learn about the Catholic faith and gain an understanding of Catholic beliefs and practices. The Journey of Faith is different for each of us; we simply want to share what the Catholic Church has to offer.
The Church offers unbaptized adults a process of formation in the Catholic Christian faith and way of life called Christian Initiation, or catechumenate. Christian Initiation is a gradual process; it begins somewhat informally. After you contact us, you will be invited to meet with other people who are exploring the possibility of becoming Catholic. RCIA requires not only academic preparation but also a commitment to the Church's teachings. You must be willing to live out an authentic Catholic life and strive to imitate our Lord and live a holy life.
Our course will help you know what the Church teaches and help you live our in practice the joy of a Catholic life. However, due to scheduling conflicts, special learning needs, demanding schedules and jobs, and other concerns in life, not all people can set aside the time to study the Faith through a formal RCIA class that meets at a set time each week.
The Catholic Church is the Church founded by Jesus Christ Himself and the one true Church - outside of which there can be no salvation.
If you are considering RCIA, you take an extremely important step for your own salvation and we rejoice in this and are here to help you in your Faith formation. There is nothing else more important for your salvation than to receive the Sacraments and live a life in the state of grace! We will provide one for you for subsequent classes. Is there any cost associated with RCIA? Do I have to pay for classes? Classes and materials will be provided by our Parish.
Do I have to provide explanations? Yes, you may return next year. You will need to start the process again, but you are certainly welcome to return. And explanations are not required, although you may speak confidentially with any of us, if you desire. What do I need to do to prepare for classes? First, pray. Prayer is most important.
Second, show up. We will provide all books and materials. Third, if you already have specific questions about the Catholic Church, write them down or type them up. Do this every week. Then, give them to us at class. Fourth, we will give assignments.
